Sheriff BJ Barnes and the Guilford Sheriff’s Office would like to thank other participating law enforcement agencies in Guilford County for a successful start to the school year. Yesterday morning’s “Operation Stop Arm” successfully brought attention to school bus safety and school zone driving, which hopefully will set the tone for the year.
A total of fifty-five (55) citations were reported in just two hours by all agencies. There were five (5) stop arm citations reported, four by Greensboro Police, one by the North Carolina Highway Patrol. Other violations in school zones included Speeding, Seat Belt not in use, Driving While License Revoked, No Operator’s License, Fictitious Tag, and Expired Tag. Three warning tickets were also issued. Many thanks to the Greensboro Police Department, High Point Police, Gibsonville Police, North Carolina Highway Patrol, and UNCG Police.
The Sheriff’s Office looks forward to working with all these agencies to make school zone and bus safety a year-long priority.
